Interview with Kayla

Tell us about yourself

Hi everyone! I’m a 28-year-old speech, feeding, and lactation therapist who is passionate about supporting families. Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, family, and our sweet dogs. If I’m not cuddling my pups, you’ll probably find me trying out a new craft project, paddleboarding on a sunny day, or at dance class with my husband. I also enjoy winding down with a good TV show and soaking up simple, fun moments with the people (and pets!) I love most.

Why did you become a lactation consultant?

I became a lactation consultant because I am deeply passionate about supporting families during one of the most important times in their lives. Having been a NICU baby myself, I know firsthand how meaningful feeding success can be. I love being able to help families with all aspects of feeding—from breastfeeding, bottle feeding, sensory feeding, and oral motor feeding. For me, it’s about more than just eating; it’s about helping families bond, feel confident, and enjoy these special moments together. I truly believe I have the best job in the world.

Why do you think your coworkers nominated you for being Collaborative?

I think I was nominated for being collaborative because I truly value working alongside all disciplines to best support our clients. When I share clients with other therapists, I make it a priority to communicate regularly so we’re aligned in our goals and strategies. Collaboration, to me, goes beyond just client care—it’s also about supporting one another with clinic spaces, materials, and even sharing personal details that help us connect as people. I believe the more we know and support each other, the stronger our TEAM 4 Kids family becomes.

What do you love most about working with TEAM 4 Kids?

I honestly love everything about working at TEAM 4 Kids! The atmosphere here is so positive and supportive, and I truly feel valued every day. I appreciate the many opportunities for growth, including CEU reimbursement, unique benefits from ladder advancements, leadership guidance, and even volunteer opportunities to give back to the community. T4K has helped me grow not only as a therapist but also as a person, and I am forever grateful to be part of this amazing team.

If you could have one wish come true, what would it be?

If I could have one wish come true, it would be to teleport! That way, traveling (and the cost of it) wouldn’t keep me from visiting friends, family, or exploring new places. I’d love to be able to teleport back home to New Hampshire more often (just not during the winter – haha)!
