Interview with Michael
Tell us about yourself
I graduated from the University of Arizona in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Speech and Language Science (Bear Down!). I’ve done speech in many different settings over the last 5 years. I started working in-home, then worked at a school before coming to work outpatient. My favorite place to travel is anywhere with a Disney theme park. If anybody sees me around here, they always see me in different pairs of sneakers. I have way too many pairs of Jordans in my closet!
Why did you become a Speech Language Pathology Assistant?
I decided to become an SLPA because after working through my curriculum at the U of A, I did my required hours to receive licensure at a speech camp at their clinic. After we were done working with the kids at the end of 6 weeks, I knew speech was what I wanted to do.
Why do you think your coworkers nominated you for showing silliness?
I think my coworkers nominated me because I’m willing to go outside of my comfort zone to engage the kids, as well as entertain my coworkers. I’m always telling jokes and singing songs from movies, whether I’m with a kiddo or not.
What do you love most about working with TEAM 4 Kids?
I love that every one in every department is willing to collaborate and present ideas with kids, whether they’re on their ongoing schedule or not. We really do work together as a TEAM!
If you had one wish, what would it be?
If I could have one wish, I’d wish for a Dodge Challenger. That’s my dream car!
