Interview with Ricki
Tell us about yourself
I have 13 years of experience as an SLP, and it’s been the greatest career choice! I was born and raised in Brooklyn, but have been in Arizona since I started treating. I have one fabulous boyfriend at home and two fur babies. If you happen to stumble upon a kitten, send it my way!
Why did you become a Speech-Language Pathologist?
I think one of the most important things in life is human connection, and being an SLP helps to make that happen for all humans!
Why do you think your coworkers nominated you for being Optimistic?
I think my coworkers nominated me for optimistic because smiling is my favorite, and I always try to be positive, especially in the face of adversity. Some words I like to live by include:
– Why worry twice? Don’t worry now and then when the thing happens, just worry when the thing happens
– Learn to laugh it off. It makes a big difference
– If you’re going to choose to think about the negative, why not choose to think about the positive? It’s more productive and it feels better inside
What do you love most about working with TEAM 4 Kids?
I love being able to mentor others; this is a huge passion of mine. I love the cutie patooties who come here for treatment. I love our amazing coworkers. And I love the culture and opportunity for growth that T4K provides! These are not common within other settings, but T4K has it all!
If you could have one wish come true, what would it be?
If I had one wish, it would be to make it rain whenever I want! There is something special about the smell of rain in the air. If you couple that with a cozy blanket, a good read, a good watch, and a delicious beverage, well, that can keep my heart happy for a long time!
