Interview with Taylor

Tell us about yourself

Hi, my name is Taylor Stringer! I am a born and raised Phoenician and I have been an occupational therapist for a little over a year now. I love kids and have had the joy of getting to work with them for over 15 years in various capacities, including being a babysitter, nanny, VBS leader, camp intern, Younglife leader, and now as a pediatric OT! I love spending time with my family and friends and most importantly my husband, who is my greatest adventure buddy!! I love good food, all things chocolate/peanut butter, two-stepping, watching the sunset, playing games, driving with the windows down, and looking at the stars.

Why did you become an occupational therapist?

I became an OT because I always knew I wanted to help people and try to be a part of their story in some way. I love that OT looks at the whole person and uses people’s passions and needs to bring healing and freedom, that can help instill a sense of purpose in life. I had a friend who was in a plane crash and it changed his life forever. He received OT, among other services, and it had such a significant impact on his life and gave him his independence again. The OT became a part of their family and got to walk alongside him and his journey. I want to be that for others and try to play a small role in whatever their story of fulfillment in life looks like.

Why do you think your coworkers nominated you for being adventurous?

I am always down for a new adventure and seem to always be on the go!! I love trying new things in both my personal and work life and try to spend as much time outside as I can. Whether that be through hiking, camping, mountain biking, riding electric longboards, or off-roading, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to go on a lot of different and wonderful adventures and enjoy this beautiful life I have been given!

What do you love most about working with TEAM 4 Kids?

I love the kids and the people I get to work with and for, the most! I love how genuine everyone is and the atmosphere TEAM 4 Kids creates! Everyone is truly always willing to lend a hand and be a team player. It never feels forced and everyone cares for one another well. I am excited to come to work every day and be in the thick of it, knowing I am well-supported and cared for. It makes a sometimes hard and stressful job more manageable, knowing you can lean on those around you and be that for others when they need it in return.

What would you consider the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

I would have to say that the most adventurous thing that I’ve ever done was hiking Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. It was on a whim, with a one-day notice after winning the lottery for a permit. I remember calling my family to tell them what I was doing and telling them not to look it up lol! I didn’t have gloves or anything and didn’t know what I was getting myself into. It was one of the coolest and craziest experiences, and I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to stand on top of that incredible granite slab and soak in the beauty of Yosemite!
