Learn to Print

What is the Learn 2 Print class?

Children ages 5 through 8 learn uppercase letter formation, lowercase letter formation as well as number formation in the Learn to Print class. Parent education is provided along the way while children engage in fun, interactive ways to promote proper letter formation, decrease letter reversals, and increase confidence with writing in the home and community settings.

Who benefits from the Learn 2 Print class?

Children aged 5 through 8 could benefit from the Learn 2 Print class if they struggle to form their upper and lowercase letters and numbers. We also work with kids who are struggling with reversals of letters to get them up to speed and confident with writing.

What activities do you do in this class?

Fun sensorimotor activities are used to address the foundational skills of handwriting while focusing on children’s sensory systems and needs. Hands-on tactile activities using materials such as shaving cream, playdoh, and kinetic sand are used to form letters to help transition the handwriting skills onto paper. Occupational therapists assess the use of adaptive tools to assist with formation of letters and numbers.
