Social Detective Social Group

What is the Social Detectives social group?

At TEAM 4 Kids we are excited to offer a social language group for pre teens. The purpose of our social language group is to both provide an environment for teaching and learning social-problem solving skills and developing personal relationships. Our social groups are designed to allow participants to engage in a variety of group activities in order to learn and practice social language skills.

What type of social skills are addressed in this group?

We cover a range of different social topics during our group therapy sessions. Some of the topics discussed during group include the following: STEPS to a conversation (personal space, taking turns, eye contact, being polite, and staying on topic), giving and receiving compliments, problem sizes vs. reaction sizes, social filter, basic and complex emotions, body language, bullying/teasing, and more!

Who benefits from being in this group?

This social language group is a group setting for pre teens who might struggle to maintain a conversation, take other’s perspectives, and ask peer directed questions. How it helps: Participation in a social group can help children to establish basic conversational skills, learn about social situations and how to respond, and practice new skills in a safe, small group of peers working on the same things!
