App Spotlight: Daniel Tiger for Parents My favorite App To Help Children Learn Social-Emotional Skills

by | Apr 22, 2019 | Speech

Is your child having trouble sharing? Does your child cry when you drop them off at preschool? Are you working on potty training? Is your child a picky eater? Does your child have difficulty dealing with frustration? Well, there’s a song for that!

As a speech therapist that leads a preschool social group, I am often asked by parents for tips to teach important social and emotional skills. I often recommend the Daniel Tiger For Parents app, as it provides parents with short video clips and songs from Daniel Tiger specifically designed to address these skills. It also provides helpful tips for parents about how to talk to their children, and how to use the songs effectively to help their children learn during everyday activities. The app is organized by categories, such as feelings, self-control, responsibility, confidence, new experiences, and kindness, so you can easily find the song you need to prepare for any situation!

As a reminder, this app is for parents! It is meant to help you interact with your child. If you want to be effective, watch the videos with your child and talk to them about it. Language is all about communication and interaction!

If you have concerns about your child’s social interaction, call T.E.A.M. 4 Kids to schedule an evaluation at our Surprise or Peoria location.

Happy Singing!
