Fireworks Social Story

Is your child frightened by the sounds and excitement of the 4th of July? I know that my children were all terrified of the noises that come along with the bright lights of a fireworks display. If your child is one of those that goes running into the house when fireworks start, this social story from Positively Autism is a great way to prepare them for what they will see and here on the 4th of July.

I like this social story because it not only informs the child of what to expect but also gives ideas on what they can do if they are not ready to watch or listen to fireworks. Additionally, the link recommends using pictures of your own family to make it even more interesting to the child. I recommend that parents start reading this social story with their child a month before the 4th of July holiday.
