by | Jul 8, 2019 | Speech

This is a fun app that can help with fine motor coordination and visual motor coordination, as well as introducing scissor skills. The app’s goal is to operate virtual scissors using the children’s thumb and index finger to snip buttons from pieces of cloth. The scissors can be oriented to left or right hands. This app could be used as a pre-scissor skill tool to help kids understand the open-close rhythm they need for use of scissors.

The use of scissors is a great bilateral, visual motor, and fine motor skill important to school age children development and this app is a fun way to introduce scissors. This app in not free ($1.99) and does have some in-app purchases, so be aware and make sure your parental controls are set correctly.

If you have concerns about your child’s’ bilateral or fine motor coordination, call TEAM 4 Kids to schedule an occupational therapy evaluation.
