Interview with Megan
Tell us about yourself
I am a born and raised Arizonan! I have been an occupational therapist for three years. I enjoy traveling/experiencing new places and cultures, I’m extremely competitive and will take on any friendly challenge, and I love to spend quality time with my family and friends–most likely playing card games!
Why did you become an Occupational Therapist?
I became an occupational therapist for a couple of different reasons! My younger cousin, Averie, was born with Down syndrome and I wanted more exposure to being around individuals with developmental disabilities and delays. From there I decided to volunteer as a Special Olympics soccer coach and work as a preschool aide in a developmental pre-k. An OT would come to the classroom and teach the kiddos fundamental skills they needed to thrive within a classroom environment. Once I learned what OT was, I was hooked and I knew this profession was made for me!
Why do you think your coworkers nominated you for being generous?
I think my coworkers nominated me for being generous because I do my best to offer time to others, give treatment ideas, and check in with them on how things are going both professionally and personally. I really enjoy offering ideas and kindness to others whenever I can!
What do you love most about working with TEAM 4 Kids?
There are so many reasons why I love working at TEAM 4 Kids! But if I had to choose one, it would be my clients and their families. It is an honor to be trusted by them to suggest ideas and work on skills that can oftentimes be difficult and new. I have shared countless laughs, shed some tears, and witnessed huge milestones with my clients/families that I am forever grateful for!
If you could have one wish come true, what would it be?
If I could make one wish, it would be to travel every year to see different parts of the world!
